ACTIVITIES
EVENTS
December 10 – Dr. Christine Pawley
Dr. Pawley outlines the history of public libraries and tells the story of a 1950’s project that split a rural community in two, leading to resentments that still festered fifty years later and echo in the culture wars rhetoric of today. No pre-registration is necessary, but come early as seating is limited. Admission is by donation.
December 18 – Friendship Tea
Join us this month for treats and good company. Friendship Tea is held every month on the third Thursday from 2 to 4 pm. It’s free!
December 31 – New Year’s Gala
Ring in the New Year with an unforgettable evening of music, dancing, celebration, and community! Join us on December 31 from 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30) to 10:00 pm at the SSAC Auditorium for a lively night with the Creek Big Band. Enjoy champagne and cake as we toast to 2026 at 9:00 pm, watching the Toronto countdown together. Tickets are $25 in advance at the SSAC front desk or A Little Brit of Heaven in Sechelt, or $30 at the door.
If there is an activity you would like to attend, but is not on our schedule, please reach out and talk to Gill, SSAC Manager. Please note that weekend activities are subject to change.
SSAC STORIES
Onboard & Grateful
"I believe in the mission of the Centre and having a passion for the mandate will definitely make it easier for me to encourage others to get involved and to support our work as we grow."
What a Trip Down Memory Lane!
DJs John and Krystyna of the Bear Music Company played the best of the best disco and rock songs from the '70s, '80s, and '90s and everyone had a great time dancing and singing to the music! And in costumes, too!
Our Change is Complete
We are delighted to welcome Vicki Raw who comes to SSAC as our first Executive Director.
Brothers in Farms
Brothers In Farms treated us to an evening of their high energy, original party music!
We Are at a Crossroads
The hiring of an Executive Director marks a significant shift in our leadership structure. It will shift the organization from being led by an Operational Board of Directors to a Governance Board.
All The Dance News
Gustavo Ferman was here for 2 Latin Funk workshops last month which were lots of fun and very energetic. About 100 people attended and learned some rhumba, salsa, mambo, cha cha and bachata moves.

SSAC Endowment Fund
In order to achieve sustainable financial stability, we have established a SSAC Endowment Fund that will generate revenue from interest accrued each year. This fund is to be administered by the Sunshine Coast Foundation.
Affordable Lunch Program
The aim of the Affordable Lunch donation program is to avoid increases in the price of our entrées, and keep it fixed currently at either $10 or $12. Every member deserves a great affordable meal in the wonderful environment of the Centre.
General Revenue Donations
Gifts to general revenue are particularly vital to enable us to deal with large, unexpected costs. You can donate to us at the front desk by cash, cheque, credit or debit card. You can also download and print the form and mail it to the Centre with your cheque.
